It will equip people for employment in roles such as computer technician, service desk or technical support, or prepare them for further study.

New Zealand Diploma in Systems Administration Level 6
The New Zealand Diploma in Information Technology Technical Support (Level 6) qualification has been developed as part of the Targeted Review of Qualifications (TROQ) process by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).
The purpose of this qualification is to provide Aotearoa New Zealand with people who have attained a range of professional and technical skills in a specialist area within Information Technology support. It will prepare people for employment as either a systems administrator or desktop analyst in a support environment, or to proceed to further study. This qualification builds on the common core of Level 6 skill, and generalist skills developed at Level 5, or equivalent relevant experience.
Graduates will be capable of carrying out systems administration, and providing related advice and support, using skills that will be internationally relevant. They will also be able to operate within an organisation with appropriate professional standards and practice, both independently and as part of a team.
This qualification provides a pathway to further specialisation through industry specific training, attempt industry certifications at the appropriate level and area of speciality. Other possible pathways include degree qualifications.
New Zealand Diploma in Information Technology Technical Support level 6
The New Zealand Diploma in Information Technology Technical Support Level 6 consists of six components at Level 6, totalling 120 credits. Content covers:
- Network Services
- Active Directory Services
- Infrastructure Virtualisation
- Applied Communications problems
- Business skills
For admission to this programme, candidates must:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- IELTS level 6.0 (Academic) with no band less than 5.5, or the equivalent level of English
- New Zealand Certification in Information Technology Technical Support (Level 5)
Course fees apply. If eligible, NZ students can apply for Studylink Student loan and allowance to assist while studying.
Course fees are separate for Level 5 and Level 6. You can try Level 5 first before enrolling in Level 6 to ensure this industry is right for you.
